Bessemer/West Jefferson County Chapter #5418 of AARP, Inc. is the only local volunteer AARP Chapter in Bessemer AL. And it is your best connection to the AL AARP State office events and activities for this area. We invite you to join with us as we offer a face for the Association locally. And help us make a difference in the lives of seniors and in your local community. Meet us every 1st Thursday at 11am. Lawson State Community College at the Bessemer Campus, in the Ethel Hall Auditorium.
You must be a national AARP member to join the local chapter. To join this chapter, present your national AARP card, complete the chapter membership application and pay $12.00 dues. We meet the first Thursday of every month at
11:00 a.m. at the following location:

The chapter's mission is to provide a strategic link at the local level between members, communities, and AARP Programs and services. Our Chapter purpose is to advance the mission, programs, and activities of the National AARP supporting it with goals and objectives set across a range of functions including a variety of community service activities, education, and leadership and fellowship opportunities. Activities range from participation in national AARP programs to local mentoring and tutoring projects, food and clothing drives friendly visits and much more. We celebrate Older Americans, We provide Guest speakers on a variety of topics; including Advocacy and Outreach, some from the AARP Alabama State Office.
